In an earlier post, Bill gave you a brief tour of the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo, Michigan. You no doubt recall that the Air Zoo is a Smithsonian-affiliated aviation museum known for its interactive rides, rare aircraft and the world’s largest indoor mural.
The Air Zoo was already a first-class attraction known throughout the Midwest. But the good news got better last year. The Zoo made big a big splash by celebrating its 30th anniversary with free general admission.
“June through September 2009 was the original promotion for free general admission,” said Dani Nicholl, Public Relations and Marketing Manager at the Air Zoo. “But it was so successful that we decided to extend the promotion and eventually made it standard policy.”
The general admission ticket includes entrance into a variety of attractions, including the Space Walk, the Guadalcanal Memorial Museum and access to all 50 rare aircraft. If you wish, you can also purchase tickets for additional rides and adventures.
If you are 48 inches or taller, the Ultimate Ace Package is for you and costs $12.95. The Junior Flyer Package is for kids 42 inches or taller and costs $10.95. And for visitors 36 to 41 inches tall, there is the Co-Pilot Package for $6.95.
These ticket packages include access to the Full-Motion Flight Simulators, a 3-D Space Shuttle Ride, the Montgolfier Balloon Race and others. The Air Zoo is a great place for families with children of all different age groups because there’s something for everyone. And with free admission, it’s an impossible-to-beat value.
